Writer's block

Writer’s Block was a natural move for me. I had been a part of other writing programs in the past through the University of Michigan’s Prisoner Creative Arts Program throughout my entire incarceration, so once I arrived at Macomb Correctional Facility, I instantly started asking how I could be a part of it. Writer’s Block provided me with a space that was comfortable enough for me to share some of my more personal writings, which normally would never have been heard by anybody. Writer's Block is a safe space to express yourself, inspire, aspire, and truly be the writer you want to be. Writing has and always will be a part of my life. Whether it's movies, books, plays, music, or poetry, I'll do it forever.

Bear

Kenneth Tello, better known as Bear, is a Teaching Assistant in the University of Michigan's LSA Residential College. His writing has previously appeared in the PCAP Literary Review and the edited collection Absent but Present: Voices from the Writer's Block. “I've been writing everything from poetry to raps and short stories since I was a kid. Writing has always come so naturally to me and has been my escape my entire life.”
